Prof. José Mvuezolo Bazonzi

Prof. José Mvuezolo Bazonzi holds a
doctorate in Sociology and serves as Professor at the University of Kinshasa,
Faculty of Social, Administrative and Political Sciences (since 2016). Since
2020, he has also been Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at President
Joseph Kasa-Vubu University of Boma (UKV).
He is an active researcher at the Center
for Political Studies (CEP), Co-founder of ResCongo—the Network of
Congolese Researchers on Peace and Security—and, since 2019, Coordinator of the
Group for Research and Strategic Studies on the Congo (GREC) at the University
of Kinshasa (https://www.grec-unikin.ac).
Prof. Bazonzi is a recipient of the 2008 Guy
Mhone Prize (awarded by CODESRIA)
and held a research traineeship at the Royal Museum for Central Africa (MRAC),
Tervuren, in 2010. In October 2023, he completed a professional certification
in Mixed Methods Research & Evaluation from the Institute
of Development Studies, University of Sussex, UK.
His scholarly interests span Migration and Development, Democratic Governance, Conflict Studies, and Urban Culture. He has authored several publications and is a long-standing member of leading academic networks, including CODESRIA (since 2004), APAD (since 2005), and AISLF (since 2022).
